Feline Field Trips & Overnights

Take an Adoptable Cat on

a Daytime Excursion

Feline Field Trips give shelter cats a fun break from kennel life with a day-long adventure out on the town—whether it’s a walk, a cuddle session, or just hanging out together. These excursions help animals relax, learn about the world, and build valuable social skills, while giving people a chance to really get to know them.

 

Our overnight stays go one step further, allowing potential adopters to host a pet in their home for a night or two to see how they fit into everyday life before making the lifelong commitment of adoption. NO APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED!

Are you bored of staring at the same four walls? Our shelter cats are right there with you! Introducing the Feline Field Trip Program, where you can break free from monotony and share some quality time exploring the world through the eyes of a shelter cats. Just show up to take one of our pre-selected furry friends out for a walk around town in their super cool kitty backpack. The fee is $10*

 

Why Participate

  • For You: Enjoy a change of scenery, a little light exercise, and the company of a new purr-fectly adorable kitty cat!

  • For the Cats: Experience a break from the shelter environment, extra enrichment through new sights and smells. Plus, it helps them learn to be great travel companions by increasing their comfort level with adventures.

  • For Everyone: Strengthen the bond between our community and shelter animals. A cat in a backpack draws attention to our adoptable cats and increases their exposure to find a home.

 

How It Works

  1. Show Up: Come to the shelter to meet your date. We’ll provide all the essentials, including a backpack, harness, leash, airtag and treats. 

  2. Match Up: We've prescreened the cats to know who is comfortable in the backpacks.  The team will select one of these cats to join you on your outdoor adventure.

  3. Enjoy: Head to your chosen location and let the adventure begin!

  4. Return: Bring your feline friend back to the shelter, where they’ll get ready for their next outing.

Where To Go We will provide a list of suggested outings, including:

  • Visit a local park

  • Walk around Lake Hollingsworth

  • Window shopping downtown

  • Share a book at the Library

The possibilities are endless!

Introducing our Feline Overnight Program, where you can take a shelter cat home for a few nights and see if they're the perfect match for you and your family. The fee is $10 per day*.

  • For the Cats: Enjoy a break from the shelter environment, gain exposure to home life, and demonstrate their adaptability and potential to be a cherished family member.

  • For Everyone: Help our shelter cats find their forever homes by providing valuable insights into their behavior and needs in a home setting.

 

How It Works

  1. Show Up: Just stop by the shelter, fill out our adoption survey, and let us know that you’re interested in the Overnight program. 

  2. Meet & Greet: We’ll match you with a cat you'd like to meet as your potential new pal. We'll provide all the essentials, including a blanket, food, carrier, litterbox supplies, treats and a few toys to ensure a smooth transition.

  3. Overnight Stay: Take the cat home for a night or two. This is your chance to see how they adapt to your living space, interact with your family, and fit into your daily routine.

  4. Feedback: After your overnight adventure, we’ll check in to hear about your experience. Your insights help us understand the cat’s behavior and needs to help find them the “purr”fect family.
