Keeping Families Together and Bellies Full

In Polk County, we noticed something deeply touching, and deeply troubling. Some of our homebound neighbors, receiving meals through food delivery programs, were quietly giving their own food to their beloved pets. They chose hunger for themselves rather than letting their four-legged family members go without.

 

No one should ever have to make that choice

 

That’s why SPCA Florida created the Ani-Meals Program in partnership with Meals on Wheels and YouThrive Florida. Together, we make sure that when meals are delivered to homebound community members, pet food is delivered too — so both people and their cherished companions can stay healthy, nourished, and together at home.

 

Twice each month, our dedicated staff and compassionate volunteers pack pet food with care and love. That food is then shared with our incredible community partners, who deliver it alongside human meals to those who need it most. The result is simple but powerful: full bowls, full plates, and peace of mind for families who shouldn’t have to choose between caring for themselves and caring for the animals they love. Because at the end of the day, a home isn’t complete unless everyone in it is fed.
