Recently you may have seen wonderful stories about SPCA Florida, our role in the community, and the partnerships developed that are bringing good things to our County. Simply put relationships matter. In many communities, there is a reluctance to collaborate for fear if identify loss or infringement on “territory.” These notions are completely contrary to my beliefs and incredibly counterproductive. You will understand this by witnessing the incredible outcomes achieve through synergies among organizations.
Recent partnerships that SPCA Florida has developed with sister organizations are perfect examples of the value collaborations bring to the community and those in need. As I am writing this, we are seeking ways to expand our relationship with Polk County Animal Control to help more animals find homes in an efficient manner. The Volunteers In Service To the Elderly and SPCAF connection is improving the health of human and animal alike by providing sustenance measures for a growing elderly population. Lakeland Fire Department (LFD) is providing shelter for our Wellness Wagon while pets LFD rescues receive treatment at SPACF for their ailments.
I have mentioned this before but sooner rather than later, you will hear more stories about SPCAF collaborations and the wonderful impact these relationships will have in bringing more services to those in need. We have a destiny and we are diligently working toward that realization. The drive fueling our efforts is summed up in a quote by Margaret Mead, “Never underestimate the power of a few committed individuals to change the world, in fact, it is the only thing that has.”
