Flying to Safety

Kittens from SPCA Florida and Polk County Animal Control Fly the Friendly Skies

Rick going homeOn the 27th of February, 2020, SPCA Florida supporters Donna Robinson and Mark Helmericks took off to fly 30 homeless cats and kittens to two Illinois no-kill Shelters; Tree House Humane Society and Hinsdale Humane Society. Staff and volunteers met the arriving feline passengers at Chicago Executive Airport.

Rick was the first Florida kitty adopted at Tree House Humane Society, and rumors have it, there was a line of people wanting to give the Florida cats a chance to a loving home.

Transporting pets to approved northern shelters is one more way SPCA Florida saves lives. Additional collaborative efforts are underway that include partnerships in Maine, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Vermont, Illinois, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
