Special Needs Animals

  • Can You Give a Special Needs Animal Happiness and Hope?

If you are one of the extraordinary people who can open your heart and home to a special needs animal, please let us know. Staff will then contact you when a loving animal with a chronic medical condition is admitted to our Adoption Center. Signing up does not guarantee or commit you to adoption, but it helps us build a core group of individuals and families who are willing to go the extra mile to care for a special needs dog or cat.

Depending on the medical condition, the pet’s lifespan may be shorter than the standard 8 to 14 years. SPCA Florida veterinarians will provide a thorough medical check to help identify problems and work with adopters to create a treatment or quality of life plan. Adopters will need to sign a medical waiver acknowledging they completely understand the pet’s medical issues. Quality of life is of utmost importance so SPCA Florida will offer humane euthanasia to any adopted special needs pet who may dramatically decline. Sharing your love with special needs pets who desperately need both comfort and joy is incredibly rewarding.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further please call Safety Net Manager Connie Johnson at (863) 577-4613 or email
